People and guns - not a "wise" combination
I've noticed the same thing as David Frum: guns and people aren't a very wise combination. Mostly because people can be counted on to use the gun to intimidate, or simply do something really stupid. That all too often will result in someone's funeral.
(A few years ago, on a transgender forum, someone joined and boasted of how everyone was "suddenly polite" when he 'accidentally' revealed his concealed pistol. Which told me he was belligerent to begin with, a bully and was using intimidation to silence those he'd just bullied. So I laid into him. :-) )
