I'm trying to figure out John McCain's animosity toward Dr Susan Rice. It sure seems like there's something personal behind it all; if I had to guess, she refuted him in public or wounded his pride somehow. I don't think it's related to him losing his seat on the Armed Services Committee (he has to step down because of term limits - something Senators selectively apply to themselves); starting another committee is a big task in Washington and trying to get a Special Investigative Committee (or whatever they're called), Watergate-style, started needs finesse - something Senator McCain often has, but not this time. This time he's a blunderbuss! The story has definitely become about him, not about Dr Rice. And all he's really doing is showing how petulant he can be, and how hypocritical Congressional Republicans are! But when I listen to him ranting on, I keep thinking "this is personal". It's not about scoring points, either. There's something between those two. His antagonistic campaign against her isn't political - it's definitely personal.

Miserable attempts at insult, self-pity and whiny sniveling isn't. There are other blogs that specialize in, and relish, that sort of pedantry.
