Fancy ideas. It's late - what can I say?

In his book "Tubes - A Journey to the Center of the Internet", Andrew Blum fancies the internet as three nations: Microsoft, Apple and Google. I wonder if it's more that Google and Facebook are the nations, Microsoft and Apple the governments, Twitter the diplomatic service that is beholden to no one, not even itself, and the various websites are archipelagos and islands galore?

Let me put it this way: Google and Facebook are more powerful than any government, Apple definitely more powerful than Microsoft and Twitter can bring the whole lot crashing down.

All hail our new leader: Twitter.

Miserable attempts at insult, self-pity and whiny sniveling isn't. There are other blogs that specialize in, and relish, that sort of pedantry.
