The bigots are still around (there can be no doubt about that!), but their conference is no more. They obviously couldn't find a venue in London - British law being what it is, and the publicity that came from Conway Hall deciding it didn't want to break equal access laws, have had an affect. First, because people let Conway Hall know who was going to be speaking and second for protesting this group of bigoted hypocrites. What's really odd, however, is that I can't find much mention of this climb-down in the radical feminist blogs (I checked some others, but that's the main one; it seems to be the T-Central equivalent.) Usually you'd see people confusing access to a venue with free speech and screeching about being denied access to a private venue to promote a prejudiced idea. But I don't see anything about this. (I don't think "they" are plotting and waiting; for one thing, they're not imaginative and when have you heard of subtlety when it comes to prejudiced bloggers?)
Congratulations to all those transgender and transsexual activists, bloggers and protestors who managed to close down this odious conference. There's still a lot to be done - but it's good start. :-)
