Thanks to a free preview of the DirecTV/MLB thingy, we're watching our first Yankees game of the season (at home to Tampa Bay). I left the game at the bottom of the 2nd; Pettitte started pitching a Stirling game, but I think the cold got to him: he allowed a couple of walks. (A quick check shows the score to be 2-1, in the 4th). UPDATE: Bottom of the 4th, it's 4-2, Yankees. Pettitte's pitching hit a rough spot in the 2nd, but he's been okay since then. Fabulous 1st inning: 8 pitches!)
We didn't get to see the first game of the season; a pity, because we do like to watch.
There's no sport like baseball. It really is the Game of Summer. F1 racing isn't a sport. It's an avocation...
Formula 1 and Baseball. I'm set. :-)

Yes Yankees!!! Never knew you were a fan. My DH was born and raised in NY, also where we met and went to college. So, we are HUGE Yankee fans here!! (Actually, his priced posession is a Reggie Jackson rookie card...)
ReplyDeleteYup, the wife and I are fans. Although she's definitely the bigger fan!
ReplyDeleteWe did soccer player cards as kids. Same idea, though. I don't know if they're as valuable as some of the baseball cards, though. "Shoot!" was the weekly magazine all the lads read. :-)
(I still like soccer, but the opportunity to watch it over here is limited. Leeds United was my team, with Glasgow's Rangers a very close second!)
As we both missed watching the Yankees last year, we're definitely springing for that DirecTV offer for out-of-area games. Lots of sports in this house this summer. :-)
Bedtime, I'm heading up the wooden hill. zzzz

PS It's nice to hear from you, Cristina! :-)
Oh dear, CA, the love affair is over. I knew I was going to violently disagree with you somewhere along the line, but I didn't know it would be this heartbreaking...
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees??
SIgh - I don't have the words I need at the moment -- but the season is young!
Coming to you from Red Sox Nation...
Well I am sure you know that being Argentine means I am also a true "football" fan...:) England and Argentina have had their fair share of brawls on the field!
ReplyDeleteI am always here, CA. We miss you, but I love reading your stuff! :)
